JobDescription : Senior Financial Analyst, Financial System Product Owner
Location: Charlottesville VA
Role: The goal of the SPGMI Finance Revenue & ACV team is to provide timely and accurate revenue and book of business performance reports to SPGMI's leadership team. As a Product Owner, you are the Finance team's voice as you contribute to the development of best-in-class reporting functionality from the Order-to-Cash ("OTC") system.
Responsibilities: As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for advocating Finances' development priorities and coordinating efforts with the other OTC and CRM/Salesforce.com Product Owners. Your objective is to address accurate financial reporting needs while collaborating with the larger development team to deliver the highest value enhancements incrementally for the business.
Write user stories and prioritize backlog of system enhancements.
Investigate potential system errors/defects. Possess the ability to understand the root cause of a defect and articulate the business impact to relevant stakeholders and priority of the resolution to a development team.
Collaborate with key stakeholders and process manager to identify enhancements that will improve workflow efficiency, output and / or the user experience for your customers.
Define acceptance criteria for each backlog item, accept or reject the delivered product.
Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and senior management on progress.
Perform testing on system enhancements to ensure that revenue and ACV are in sync and reported accurately. Provide signoff as needed.
Ensure all GAAP revenue recognition rules are appropriately followed.
Support overall business unit reporting requirements. Develop knowledge and understanding of the financial systems that are critical to the reporting process.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Experience with the Order-to-Cash process and familiarity with a subscription business model.
Project management experience.
Understanding of Agile development methodologies and LEAN process management.
Demonstrate investigative research and analytical capabilities necessary to leadership team with accurate and insightful interpretation of financial information.
Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions for resolving operational and financial problems.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (within various divisions of S&P) to optimize the integration of the CRM and OTC technologies within the organization.
A strong work ethic and ability to work well independently and in a team.
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA/MBA is preferred but not required.
3-5years experience in public accounting or private accounting/finance department.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition guidance is required.
Strong skills in MS Excel (Pivot tables, Lookup & IF functions, etc.) and PowerPoint. Experience with ERP (Oracle Financials), Zuora, SalesForce.com, Tableau, and Cognos TM1 is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
History of teamwork and proven ability to deliver results.
