Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Vice President, Mental Health Strategy to Providence System Office in Renton, WA.
This system-wide leader, reporting to the President of Population Health Management, serves as the executive responsible for leading an enterprise-wide Mental Health improvement Program. Executive leadership for PSJH Enterprise-wide Mental Health Improvement Strategy and Implementation
Shared Service executive providing an array of mental health informatics, analytics, and management services to each of our 7 PSJH Regional Healthcare Delivery Systems
This role oversees the team responsible for Mental Health strategies at the System and Region-level. It represents the approach across PSJH and ensures alignment across the enterprise. Mental Health improvement efforts across the System and Region will be with the pervue of this role using a matrix-management approach and an established governance structure that engages PSJH executives in both Shared Services and the PSJH regions. Mental Health Improvement Service include:
(1) Current state integrated assessment of PSJH patient populations, community health profiles, provider network evaluations and community health partnerships
(2) PSJH Region specific gap analysis and prioritization planning with each Region
(3) Development of Regional Playbooks and Mental Health Improvement plans
(4) Collaboration with PSJH Regional leaders and Community leaders on performance improvement, expanding access and services
(5) Coordination with various PSJH system and Regional teams including clinicians, operations, finance, information solutions, community health, etc.
(6) Performance Improvement monitoring and reporting to various stakeholders
(7) Management of a team to include initially a program manager and data analyst(s), etc. Managing through our matrix the coordination with multiple internal PSJH partners.
(8) Manage and coordinate with Finance the mental health improvement administrative budgets
(9) Design and develop a mental health improvement grant program in collaboration with Wellbeing Trust and the PSJH Regional leaders
(10) Work in Collaboration with other PSJH Population Health Management leaders and our Regional Population Health counterparts
In this position you will: • Create a matrix-management structure that supports improvement of mental health of PSJH patients and our communities. • Engage stakeholders, lead/inspire improvement, deploy action plans, create strong relationships with regional leaders, be a trusted adviser to regional leaders, make presentations at key leadership meetings, advocate for Mental Health improvement, report and advocate for the work of the strategy. • Be a key Population Leadership team member, representing this critical work across the system an in each region. • Align multiple initiatives for mental health and ensure they are consistent with the overall direction of Population Health Management strategies and tactics being deployed • Assist Regions and Shared Services in creating consistent culture change in managing mental health concerns in both PSJH patient populations, as well as PSJH communities served

Qualifications: REQUIREMENTS • Master’s Degree in Behavioral Health, Mental Health, or related field required. • Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Health, Mental Health, or related field required. • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or management-related field preferred. • Ph.D. in Behavioral Health, Mental Health, Psychology, Public Health, or related field preferred. • MD Preferred • More than 10 years in Healthcare leadership, preferably in the delivery of behavioral health and social services in varied care settings, including but not limited to: acute, ambulatory, community, home, and primary care required. • More than 10 years in leading change initiatives across large organizations that address the needs of at-risk and vulnerable populations, particularly those experiencing mental health or substance use concerns required. • More than 10 years in working to improve the care and outcomes of patient populations that are under value-based care agreements and have significant social determinant of health concerns, such as Medicaid or Dual eligible populations preferred. • More than 10 years establishing change structures and governance entities that enable improvement across health organizations undergoing significant marketplace disruption preferred. • More than 10 years Senior leadership experience at the Regional or National level leading operations and personnel focused on improving and/or expanding mental health services, behavioral health programs and social services focused on person with mental health or substance abuse conditions preferred. • More than 10 years experience leading mental health or behavioral health services for health systems, state/regional/federal government programs or health plans preferred.
