JobDescription : TheRole: Analyst, Emissions and Clean Energy
Grade ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 9
The Location: New York, NY
The Team: Platts Analytics' Emissions and Clean Energy team is responsible for tracking new energy policies and determining commodity market impacts of new regulations. We work at the intersection of all fuels and sectors in the energy space and also develop outlooks and views on environmental commodity markets (i.e. carbon, renewable energy credits, etc).
The Impact: As part of the Platts Analytics Emissions and Clean Energy team, you will develop policy expertise by providing rigorous analysis of energy and environmental policy (legislative, regulatory, legal and political developments). As part of your work you will also contribute to building out Platts Analytics' supply-demand balances and price forecasts for major US and EU environmental markets through tracking and analysis of industry and sectoral data. Finally, you will play a key role in developing the deliverables that communicate the market insights to clients, (through written reports, presentations, calls etc).
What's in it for you:
The role will provide an opportunity for in-depth analytical experience to gain a broad knowledge of the design and functioning of environmental markets (e.g. cap-and-trade, renewable energy credit markets, etc.) and other policy-created incentive structures designed to limit carbon emissions and other pollutants and encourage clean and renewable energy.
The role requires developing an understanding of the regulatory and legislative processes and risks around them - including closely tracking key policy developments and interacting with the policy-making entities.
The analyst will contribute right away, and have opportunities to grow through collaboration with colleagues and to showcase knowledge through deliverables and other client communications.
Prepare analytical research suitable for publishing focused on greenhouse gas and environmental commodity markets in North America.
Conduct in-depth research on the energy and environmental market implications of U.S. federal and state- level policy changes.

Undertake short-term 'internal-consulting' research projects to develop Platts Analytics' view on relevant technology, policy, and market developments.
Build excel models for sectoral analysis of historical and forecasted greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to the Platts Analytics supply-demand balances and price forecast for covered environmental commodity markets.
Communicate insights to clients through publications, conference calls and client presentations, with possible speaking opportunities at Platts' seminars.
