The Team: This role is part of Asia Analytics Team, which is growing and part of S&P Platts Analytics. The team is based in Singapore with offices in Beijing and Hong Kong, and interacts actively with many other groups such as oil, petrochemicals, biofuels, natural gas/LNG, coal and power.
The Impact: This position will have responsibilities of research in elements affecting the China oil market (petroleum product demand, supply, trade and prices, energy policies concerning the petroleum sector) in the Asia and global contexts, and presenting results in both written reports and client-facing interactions. The position will also assist with business development and client retention in China.

Follow product exports understanding economics
Help track all China Stocks and Trade Flows using URSA and cFlow
Assist with providing refinery margins and track crude values into China
Track new refinery startups and impact on yield especially petrochemicals
Track trends in demand
Maintain inputs and outputs for China oil markets analysis, working closely with other analytical staff within Asia Analytics and Platts Analytics at large
Assist with monthly and ad hoc reports and forecasts
Support Platts Analytics' wider organization, including Petrochemicals, Biofuels, Gas, Power and Emissions/Clean Energy
Prepare feedback for clients to answer questions and assist with presentation of outlooks
What We're Looking For: Basic Qualifications:
Minimum two years of experience in energy industry consulting, investment banking, equity research or equivalent professional experience
Excellent communication skills and in oral and written English - our working language. Must be able to effectively present forecasts and supporting materials to clients in regular reports, phone calls, emails, and web/live conferences
Fluent in Mandarin for reading, writing and speaking
Good at data mining and data visualization with available software programs.
Innovative and strong problem-solving skills to streamline processes and identify and implement improvements
Strong attention to details
Ability to help assess impact of policy issues influencing oil markets focusing on China.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in economics, business administration, engineering, or similar field with experience in energy markets
Expert in Microsoft Excel. At ease using features such as pivot tables, matrix formulas and other advanced Excel functionality.
Successful candidates will be highly self-directed and be able to work well under tight deadlines
Ability to assess the Chinese oil markets in the regional (Asia) and global contexts
Some knowledge of economics/econometrics/refining modeling
