The Department of Athletics at the University of Indianapolis is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach. The assistant coach will perform the responsibilities directed by the head coach. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the coordination of the practices, individual training sessions, recruiting, and other duties as assigned.
-Assist with the teaching of all offenses, defenses, fundamentals and techniques, game strategies, and knowledge of all aspects of the sport
-Assist with teaching team and individual compliance to training rules and operating policies which govern their intercollegiate sport program
-Assist with educating others and supporting the NCAA Division II Strategic Plan
-Assist the head coach with budgeting, requisitioning, accounting for and storing of all athletic equipment and supplies needed and used in the sport program
-Responsible for their own personal conduct according to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the University, NCAA and Conference regulations governing intercollegiate athletics, and department operating procedures established by the athletics administration
-Strict adherence to all medical decisions and placing the student-athlete’s health and welfare as top priority
-Actively recruit academically and athletically talented student-athletes in accordance with the philosophy of the University of Indianapolis and in strict adherence to University, NCAA and Conference regulations
-Teach potential recruits the value of the UIndy experience
-Support and monitor the student-athlete’s academic responsibilities by providing guidance to university resources
-Possible oversite of study table when necessary and in support for the success of the student-athlete
-Constantly assist the head coach to educate, monitor, control, and supervise the conduct and behavior of the student-athletes in the programs to reflect favorably on themselves, their families, and the University of Indianapolis
-Continually educate and strive to enhance the image of the University of Indianapolis Athletics Department and its programs through interpersonal contacts with parents, visitors, university faculty/staff, boosters and community members
Candidates must possess the following: a bachelor's degree; at least two to four years of experience as a player, and/or Coach/Teacher; quality writing and speaking skills; and excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with student-athletes, parents, faculty, administrators and outside constituents. Candidate's must also be committed to the philosophy of NCAA Division II level intercollegiate athletics and dedicated to the philosophy and the policies of the University of Indianapolis, the department of athletics and the NCAA.
