The School of International Graduate Studies (SIGS) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) seeks applicants for one or more intermittent adjunct lecturers for primarily mobile and resident short courses for international participants. Successful candidate(s) will be responsible for teaching graduate level Cyber Strategy development related courses in support of the Institute for Security Governance. For information about the Institute educational programs see https://instituteforsecuritygovernance.org Teaching assignments may include mobile and resident teaching. In-person, resident, one or two week courses are taught on the NPS campus in Monterey, California and one or two week duration mobile courses are taught at locations around the world. The successful candidate must be capable and ready to travel to foreign locations, some remote, to teach in national or regional cyber strategy development related courses for Allies and partners. Intermittent refers to a work schedule that is less than full-time and is scheduled irregularly to meet specific instructional tasks or deliverables. The duration of employment is dependent on continuous external funding, and could terminate on a short notice. The level of compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience of the candidate.
Applicants should have completed an advanced degree (doctoral preferred) in an academic discipline such as global affairs, security studies, or political science as it applies to national security strategy in the cyber domain. Demonstrated superior teaching performance and experience with short graduate-level mobile and resident courses is desired. Experience in professional military education in the areas of curriculum development and teaching in the subject area is required. At a minimum, the successful candidate will teach course modules in cyber strategy design, cyber conflict, cyber deterrence, and international law and norms. The candidate will work with the Cyber Program manager to design courses and develop supportive instructional presentations or exercises.
