The Practice: Infrastructure and Utilities Ratings Asia Pacific The Practice was established by S&P Global Ratings to expand our ratings franchise in an area of strong global growth and to leverage our significant infrastructure expertise across the full range of infrastructure asset classes. This growth is especially strong in the Greater China region where the development and financing of infrastructure projects is essential for continued economic growth. Globally, analytical team members reside in 24 locations and work on a diverse range of transactions applying different ratings criteria, predominantly corporate and project finance. We also work on transactions in partnership with other practices on a regular basis. Effective teamwork, strong written and verbal communication skills and a thoughtful approach to problem solving are highly valued.
The Impact: You are responsible for conducting credit analysis related to a range of services provided to corporate, institutional and/or governmental clients. You will be part of a team that evaluates the overall creditworthiness of organizations and their ability to meet their financial obligations for traditional credit-based products such as bond issuance and bank loans. You will also support teams that evaluate credit risk, structural considerations, legal considerations and the ability of issuers to meet their obligations to pay timely interest and repay principal for a wide variety of infrastructure asset types.
What's In It For You: You will be offered the opportunity to assist S&P Global in achieving its mission of being one of the leading providers of the highest quality risk evaluations and analytical information to the world's financial markets. Interns will work with junior and senior analysts within S&P Global and senior management of issuing entities through the ratings process (including ratings committees and management meetings). Interns will also support senior analysts in research and analysis of market data related to current market events and rated companies. This will include the development of publishing-quality graphs and tables for including in market publications.
Learn and understand ratings criteria and methodology
Assist with preparing required documents for rating committee and issuer management meetings
Provide timely and accurate quarterly financial statistics and data analysis
Assist in reporting, research, presentations and modelling
Support the team on improvement in execution and ad-hoc writing projects
What we're looking for:
You come with strong academic standing within Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics or a related business/quantitative discipline
Strong familiarity and experience with Bloomberg, WINS and other financial databases to support research projects of senior analysts
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
You have strong analytical skills and strong learning agility
You have the ability to work in a deal-driven, collaborative work environment
Proficiency in Mandarin & English to interpret financial statements and to write reports
Able to learn quickly, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Problem-solving, time-management, attention to detail and organizational abilities
