Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of Corporate and Capital Operations.
In this role, the successful candidate as the Director of Corporate and Capital Operations will be a strategic business partner, and reports to the Vice President of Finance Operations. This position will be a participative manager, lead and develop an internal team of 15 to support the following areas: Corporate Services and Fixed Asset Operations, Debt Management and Capital Budget, Capital Reporting and Funding Source Uses and act as a liaison between the Finance division and Mission Leadership, Department Administrators for long range planning and forecasting.The position will also provide leadership in the development and implementation of key strategic systems, processes and procedures that will enhance the governance and reporting of financial transactions for the Health System. The Director will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in key strategic decision making, analysis and operations as NYULH campus transformation and Integration with NYU Winthrop continues. This is a tremendous opportunity for a finance and operations leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization.
Corporate Operations and Analytics: o Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial analytics for all departments. o Collate financial reporting materials, and oversee all financial, project/program and affiliation and other Accounts Receivable accounting and analysis. o Oversee all allocations for the Health System, Hospital, Medical School and Operating Unit & Mission P&Ls, Lease and Owned Space Cost Pool, and Fringe Pool. o Collaborate with the Financial Reporting and Operating Budget teams related to monthly close, year-end audits or surveys. o Coordinate monthly meetings with management for corporate departments, Opunit and Mission storefronts. o Ensure all timelines and deliverable are adhered to as laid out by Senior Management. o Oversee completeness and accuracy of all activities related to Departmental accruals. o Provide support for annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance senior management; assess any business process change necessary. o Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance departments overall policy and procedure manual. o Directs special projects as needed from financial management perspective. o Develop for consideration and implement cost reduction initiatives for the Corporate Service partners (MCIT and REDF), Hospital Opunits and all Som mission areas. o Working closely with the VP of Finance-Hospital Operations ensuring the storefronts leaders receives financial reports timely.
Capital Operations: o Oversee all projects to ensure expenditures are categorized accurately for depreciation purposes. o Review all capital projects for unallowable expenses. o Oversee the close out of all capital projects that have been placed into service. o Manage and coordinate all tasks, responsibilities and requests related to Government Fund Capital expenditures o Ensure the completeness and accuracy of all activities related to Non-Salary capital Accruals. o Provide support to Financial Reporting team with month-end close, Year-end audit and other required such and surveys. o Oversee Medical Center surveys for Hospital Medicare/Medicaid Cost Report and Som Indirect Cost Report. o Serves as a liaison to Disaster Recovery and FEMA Grant Management teams; Support preparation and compilation of data and supporting documents for reimbursement requests for federal agencies relating to hurricane recovery process. o Perform an ongoing reconciliation between NYU Fixed Asset Ledger and submission to FEMA in regards to additions, transfers and disposition of assets and projects. o Responsible for Management of accurate Medical Center Depreciation expenses by asset categories. o Build and maintain collaborative relationship with other corporate departments to ensure a constant flow of communication regarding business and system changes and needs.
Asset Management and Data Integrity: o Responsible for reviewing and providing details for Componentization of Construction invoices. o Oversee all Medical Center and related entity monthly Capital Equipment assets are tag on a timely basis. o Responsible with development, implementation & communication of Fixed Asset related policies and procedures. o Manage Reporting enhancement process for Projections and allocation of Depreciation & Interest. o Ensure completeness of all acquisition, transfers and disposition of fixed assets. o Oversee of all Construction in Progress projects and perform monthly closeouts to ensure proper depreciation expenses. o Ensure accuracy of monthly supporting schedules for Depreciation, Transfers, and Gains & Losses. o Ensure compliance with Capital asset policies and procedures. o Oversees, coordinates and promotes the Medical Centers fixed asset physical inventory process, including cycle counting to stay compliant with government regulations. o Manages and coordinates the tracking database for new and existing capital and non-capital fixed assets including asset identification tagging, location identification, physical counts, and departmental asset custodian o Utilize PeopleSoft Asset Management module to streamline business processes o Collaborate & Provide support to RED&F and MCIT departments in regards to their sub-systems (UNIFIER & IT modules) integration with PeopleSoft. o Work closely with the technical development team to design accurate analytical reports and work centers. o Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility o Participate in development of functional specifications, and recommendations for optimal system and process design.
Capital Budget and Debt Management: o Oversee and approve all capital purchasing request for compliance with budget and capitalization criteria. o Manage budget modification requests within scope, ensuring compliance and maintaining a clear audit trail. o Responsible for monthly Capital Expenditure reports to include Stand alone and Medical Center o Oversee and Collaborate with Corporate Services Departments for preparation and maintaining their budgets using Peoplesoft Hyperion Software. o Oversee of OBIEE tool including BINS update and inputting monthly funding sources o Collaborate with REDF and MCIT for strategic campus transformation capital needs. o Review funding source analytics and Cash Flow statement items from GL to Capital Expenditure reports. o Ensure data/information is accurately stated to ensure timely flow between Unifier and Peoplesoft. o Coordinate with Medical Center Departments to setup and manage capital equipment chartfields. o Work with departments to provide analyses and reports regarding capital projects. o Review Project costing information with project categories, owner/sponsor information. o Oversee in the preparation of monthly Financial Statements by reconciling and analyzing all Debt Schedules. o Manage all DASNY/DOH and LOC Escrow accounts receivable analysis o Responsible to accumulate and analyze all capital supporting documentation require for DOH, DASNY, Grants and LOC drawdowns o Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting as it relates to capital spending. o Partner with Planning, Finance Operations and other business partners to budget and monitor Capital projects and provide users with current project status as well as to develop internal control processes. o Ensure completeness and accuracy of all activities related to capital leases and debt transactions and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Position Summary:Responsible for assisting in the overall planning, organization, direction and control of the Financial Planning Department. The director will be responsible for interacting with hospital administration to facilitate financial planning, assist in decision-making processes and clarifying/resolving financial issues. Cross campus duties and responsibilities of the Director include, but are not limited to: (1) personnel management, (2) operating, revenue and capital budget design and development, (3) policies and procedures development and adherence, (4) ensuring optimal customer relations, (5) maximizing reimbursement for the Health System, (6) participate in developing the strategic plan for the health system. Required Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance and/or a masters degree in business administration or healthcare administration, or CPA and/orA minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years of experience with a not-for-profit organization.
