This is professional work which involves the medical and surgical oversight of a large scale public animal care facility. Position requires implementing shelter medicine training in providing consistent population health oversight, medication oversight, individual animal treatment plans and a commitment to live outcomes. Incumbent is key to establishing supervised protocol-based care and systems, policy and procedure. Supervision is exercised over subordinate technician personnel; Does related work as required. Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, 1 hr. lunch, occasional weekend emergencies.
Must be currently and actively licensed to practice as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in New York State at time of appointment. License must be kept current and up to date specific to NYS License and mandate requirements. Preference may be given to candidates with 5 or more years of clinical/surgical experience with a strong interest or experience in the practice of shelter medicine. **Special Requirement** A DEA license must be maintained.
