BASIC FUNCTION: Provide development leadership, assistance and support to advance the finances underwriting the work of the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy at Salve Regina University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Development and Sponsorships will work with the Executive Director of the Pell Center, fellows and other staff at the Pell Center, and in close coordination with the University's professional advancement staff to:
Develop and implement a comprehensive development plan for the Pell Center at Salve Regina University.
Research, identify, cultivate and solicit individual, corporate, and foundation donors at the local, regional, and national levels who will underwrite the work of the Pell Center.
Oversee the development of the Pell Center print and web literature and other materials to support fundraising.
Guide the development of grant and funding proposals.
Support initiatives to research and secure government funding for the Pell Center's programs.
Work with Pell Center fellows and staff to strengthen their individual abilities to raise money and build partnerships to support the Center's work.
Coordinate the Pell Center's development initiatives and systems with other offices at Salve Regina University, and particularly in close partnership and alignment with the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations (URA).
Raise funds in excess of their salary compensation within the first year of their hire with continued growth beyond that in the months and years that follow.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Development and Sponsorships will perform other such duties as directed by the Executive Director.
A bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of experience of successful non-profit fundraising. Strong written and verbal communications skills as well as outstanding interpersonal skills are essential.
A demonstrated interest in and familiarity with international relations or public policy questions is desired by not required. This position requires experience in managing multiple projects, cultivation of multiple donors, as well as a great attitude and work ethic.
This position could, on occasion, require bending, reaching, ascending/descending stairs, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting, talking and hearing.
