The Project Archivist will employ an advanced level of professional skills to process and create access for a significant archival collection. This is a one-year NHPRC grant-funded position.
What you bring…
Requirements: Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program or a master's degree in archival studies, history, or other closely related field with a concentration in archival management and theory. Computer literate and technologically adept. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficiency in Windows Operating System and file management.
Preferred: Experience working in a special collections including archival processing, arrangement, and description of collection materials. Membership in the Academy of Certified Archivists. Knowledge of current professional archival theory, standards and best practices in archival administration and preservation of a variety of formats. Knowledge of descriptive metadata standards including MARC, DACS, and data structure standards relevant to archival control of collection materials including EAD. Ability to foster a positive working environment and model the Libraries’ values through daily actions and behaviors. Advanced project planning and management skills. Effective time management skills. Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds. Advanced customer experience skills. Ability to communicate effectively, including excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written skills. Ability to pay attention to detail. Ability to transfer and apply knowledge and experience to new situations. Ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions. Ability to excel in a “perpetual beta” environment, with frequent change and intelligent risk-taking.
