The Vice President of Information Technology will be responsible for providing strategic planning, system applications, operational leadership, technical advisory, enhanced teaching, learning and operational effectiveness throughout the University system. This will include creating a unified IT strategy and delivery of academic computing and distance learning strategies. The ideal candidate can drive the proactive identification of creative technology solutions to support new and existing academic services. This position will report to KCU’s Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities and Duties
Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team to provide strategic vision and manage daily operations of core University infrastructure, IT architecture, platforms, applications, and IT staff
Lead enterprise and IT planning and collaborate with senior management to assure alignment to University mission, vision, strategic long-term and near-term goals
Lead the development of operational processes, infrastructure strategy, architecture, service delivery standards and procedures for the enterprise
Ensure all projects are delivered within scope, budget, and adhere to University governance processes
Leverage 3rd party application services and consulting expertise as appropriate
Define, maintain and enhance relevant IT service levels and metrics
Support IT leadership functions including annual planning, budgeting, status reporting, executive presentations and continuous improvement
Provide strategic leadership and coaching for the development and retention of a high-performing IT team
Manage End User services including 24x7 support for applications and infrastructure, hardware, and collaboration tools
Evaluate emerging, new and improved technologies to gauge benefit to University operations
Drive a strong service-oriented philosophy with students, faculty and staff
An Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field; a Graduate degree is preferred
10 + years’ experience in managing Information Technology professionals; Higher Education experience is preferred
Demonstrated success in leading and managing technological initiatives focused on strategic planning, integrating technology architecture and operations for organizations in growth mode
Experience with enterprise-scale systems, including development of large-scale application systems by utilizing a variety of database technologies and hardware platforms; Workday HRIS platform experience is preferred
Experience in a fast-growth, progressive company or educational institution is strongly preferred
Experience designing, implementing and supporting shared services initiatives in an enterprise-wide environment
Experience managing or overseeing projects to implement enterprise-level business applications, as well as experience operating those applications
Strong change management and leadership skills and ability to implement new systems and redesign work processes
Demonstrated ability to apply technology solutions to business problems with an in-depth knowledge of industry trends, applicable laws and regulations as they relate to technology and academic issues
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive management and the Board of Trustees
Proven leadership ability to set and manage priorities judiciously, demonstrate strong tactical skills and excellent interpersonal skills
A track record of attracting, hiring, managing and retaining top quality staff and management
