The Location: Beijing, China
The Team / The Business : S&P is establishing a local ratings business in People's Republic of China that will support China's policy goals of financial market reform, increased foreign participation in the domestic capital markets, RMB internationalization and the Belt and Road Initiative. We will operate with a credit rating scale, methodologies and practices customized for the local needs while improving transparency and introducing rigorous standards needed to promote positive change in the country's financial sector.
For this we are setting up a new team of talented analysts to support and grow the business and most importantly lay a strong foundation for the newly established business. Analytical team members will reside in Beijing, covering a broad range of sectors.
The Impact: The [Sector] group has an opening for a Head of [Corporate / FI / Structured Finance] Ratings in China and is looking to fill it as soon as possible. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Analytics of [S&P Ratings (China)], manage a team of around  analysts and be a key member of the [S&P Ratings (China)] Leadership Team.
Lead analytical excellence across the team by producing forward looking analysis providing the most valuable information possible to investors to help in their credit decisions, with a view to maintain best-in-class ratings performance
Ensure that our communication to issuers, investors and the media is clear, timely, precise and transparent in telling a credit story
Work closely with cross-sector teams
Collaborate with S&P Global Ratings on joint rating mandates and outreach activities
Contribute to cross-SPGI analytical activities both internally and externally
Oversee the team's overall credit ratings process and maintain close vigilance over analytics and publishing quality
Managing resource allocation to optimize service delivery to the markets
Attend rating committees, as needed by the standards, and contribute to their effectiveness by instilling best practices and ensure the quality and timeliness of your team's ratings recommendation documentation, in compliance with relevant analytical criteria
Ensure a positive compliance culture within the team, including leading by example
Develop a culture of service excellence in the team by focusing members on sector expertise, constructive and predictable communication with issuers, analytical continuity and flawless execution
Develop analysts and grow employee engagement, focus on career development and develop and implement training
With senior analytical leaders, undertake and coordinate outreach initiatives with various market constituents (issuers, sponsors, investors, intermediaries and professional associations) in the context of our strategic objectives and policies
Contribute to the success of a learning organization through continuous self-development, teamwork and contribution to organizational improvement through recruiting, developing and retaining talent
Be responsible for the ownership and execution of the talent strategy
What we are looking for in you:
Strong understanding of [Corporate / FI / Structured Finance] credit ratings/assessment, so as to be able to represent [S&P Ratings (China)] externally in key forums with issuers, sponsors, developers and investors and governments will be an advantage
Understanding of the application of the range of criteria applied in the [Corporate / FI / Structured Finance] sector ratings will be an advantage
People leader with extensive record of analytical excellence, process and subject matter expertise who is able to demonstrate analytical independence and objectivity
Understanding of the team's priorities and a capacity to meaningfully contribute to execution of those priorities
Strong client and market knowledge and ability to contribute to the continued development of S&P Global's franchise, as well as relevant experience in credit analysis
Demonstrated operational management, influencing and communication skills with focus on strategy implementation and improvements to working practices and methods, as well as, demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively with peers within and outside a team
Proven ability to attract, motivate and lead a team of analysts in a collaborative working style
In-depth knowledge of the procedures and methodologies used for determining credit ratings, including qualitative and quantitative models, and be able to provide guidance to the team, especially in complex areas
Demonstrated leadership skills and change management aptitude - the capacity to challenge views, processes, and behaviors, especially in complex areas would be highly valued
Graduate degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, Finance or related field required
Mandarin speaking skills are mandatory
Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, specifically public speaking and writing skills
