Saint Andrew's School seeks, for the position of Nurse Manager, a dynamic leader who will manage the nursing staff, oversee the operation of the infirmary and delivery of health care services to both day and residential life students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as a leader and manages nursing staff.
Serves as a back-up nurse for the clinic and residential life nursing services.
Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting school and nursing philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations.
Measures health outcomes against standards; making recommending adjustments.
Creates Annual reports.
Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations.
Protects students and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols; enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff; following up on work results.
Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to students and staff.
Provides information to students and parents and health care team by answering questions and requests.
Achieves financial objectives by operating within an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; approves spending and manage overall finances.
Maintains confidential student records and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing.
Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records.
Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Maintains nursing supplies; approving requisitions and cost allocations.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
Nurse Practitioner responsibilities: In addition to the manager responsibilities the ARNP should also:
Perform initial patient screenings and patient history and physical examinations.
Update patient records and check records for accuracy at each patient appointment.
Analyze test data and determine the need for follow-up appointments and further treatment options.
Deliver quality care and prescribe medication.
Serve as the resource patients need for ongoing care information, counseling and provide guidance for any patients with critical conditions.
All other duties as assigned by the School
Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Florida
BSN required, Master’s preferred
10 years experience as a nurse administrator, leader and clinical nurse.
Solid experience creating a safe community healthcare environment
Pediatric healthcare experience
Outstanding leadership skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Experience in a residential life program preferred
