The Director of Healthcare Economics within UHC Medicare & Retirement will lead a team that owns an analytical database central to critical analysis of Medicare Advantage utilization, cost, and clinical quality data. The director will proactively identify and integrate new data sources, manage execution of enhancements, and lead a continual dialogue around healthcare data and analysis throughout the organization. There's never been a better time to do your life's best work.(sm) Primary Responsibilities:Lead and develop your team of analysts/developers to provide Analysis and expertise Data warehousing, cleansing, standardizationBuild strong relationships within the organization including finance, IT, product, actuarial/underwriting, clinical, and operations Own a foundational database supporting analysis of medical utilization and cost across the organization Translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences including senior leaders Effectively direct and leverage a well-integrated UHG group engaged in a consulting arrangement with UHC finance Understand and explain drivers of health care trends (i.e. medical cost trends, utilization, care quality metrics, etc.) Initiate and foster unique and innovative solutions and ideas Bring disparate data together with knowledge of health care and government policy to develop and communicate sound business recommendations to leaders throughout the organization Quickly grasp the complexities, interrelationships and conceptual themes among problems and issues

Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in analysis or data management of complex data 2+ years of supervisory experience over analytical staff Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related degree Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact collaboratively with internal customers across multiple departments and business segments Experience in prioritizing work on multiple complex assignments with ongoing deadlines Ability to approach issues from broad strategic perspective while also focusing on the detailsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in identifying healthcare trends Command of data storage theory and design Experience with Medicare Advantage products Experience in CMS Star Ratings or healthcare quality programs SQL, SAS, Oracle, Hadoop, Hive, Python, R, Excel, VBA, Linux/Bash, Spark skillsCareers with UnitedHealthcare.
