Research and Evaluation Assistant
AIDS Foundation of Chicago
The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) mobilizes communities to create equity and justice for people living with and vulnerable to HIV and related chronic diseases. We envision a world in which people living with HIV and related chronic diseases will thrive, and new HIV infections will be rare. Our work focuses on improving health equity, preventing new cases of HIV, serving as a collaboration and knowledge center, and being a bold voice for change. We are seeking for an individual to serve as our Research and Evaluation Assistant. The Research and Evaluation Assistant will directly assist the Research, Evaluation, and Data Services team with a wide range of projects related to homelessness, permanent supportive housing initiatives, HIV healthcare access and utilization, program monitoring and evaluation, and health services research. The Research and Evaluation Assistant will also have the opportunity to learn about HIV/AIDS prevention, care and advocacy. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in social work, social science or related field. AND previous experience working in a research environment with human research subjects. AND previous experience working with vulnerable populations. Flexibility to work from multiple locations; data collection will occur in the field. Valid Driver’s License required. Basic knowledge of SPSS or other statistical software. Fluent in Spanish (both verbal and written). Preferred Qualifications Completed coursework in social work, human services, research methods, and introductory statistics. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects, establish workload priorities, and meet deadlines are critical. Ability to travel locally. The ability to develop and maintain professional, trusting, and positive working relationships with mangers, supervisors, staff, co-workers, partner agencies, and vendors. This includes the ability to engage others in conversation and actively participate in conversations while interacting with others. The ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals. Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations. Knowledge of SPSS. Also the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical specifications and project management documentation are key to success in this role.
