We are seeking a highly qualified Chief of Staff to lead change and build upon the strengths of our current clinical services. We are a 1,900 employee Medical Center (complexity level 1C) located on a beautiful 178-acre campus. In addition to the Medical Center, we have seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in three states.
&;lt; &;gt;evelops and maintains currently accepted management practices throughout the clinical services.
Develops and presents budgetary requirements of the clinical services and assists in the formulation of the annual budget program.
Fully responsible to the Medical Center Director for programs of patient care and for the educational and research activities of the clinical services. To carry out these responsibilities, the candidate demonstrates the ability to:
Formulate and recommend plans for a comprehensive program of medical care.
Develop the requirements of staff, facilities, equipment and supplies needed to carry forward such an Integrated program, utilizing necessary reviews and controls.
Appraises the effectives of the various medical programs in meeting the needs of patient care.
Promotes the development of health care professionals through counseling, mentoring, teaching, and encouraging self-assessment.
Fosters an environment where patient care, educational activity, and administrative planning and evaluation are based on teamwork, integration and application of current knowledge.
Establishes mechanisms where employees and VA leadership are informed, in a timely manner, of clinical program developments that affect them.
Takes an active role as an Executive Leadership team member, providing advice, counsel and personal action in defining and accomplishing the Medical Center's mission and goals.
Represents the organization, internally and externally, in such a manner as to reflect positively on the Medical Center and VA.
Serves as Medical Center's professional liaison to other VA and federal facilities, the community, affiliates, media, Congressional offices, and constituent organizations.
Monitors and promotes compliance with VA regulations and professional standards pertaining to outside professional activities and ethical conduct.
Monitors and promotes cooperation and compliance of the clinical staff with federal and state laws and regulations; medical staff bylaws and rules; Medical Center policies; and The Joint Commission standards as applicable to the individual, profession of Medical Center.
Full and unrestricted M.D. / D.O. license from any state, DC or Puerto Rico
Board Certified Internal or Family Medicine
Maintains current ACLS and BLS Certification.
Experience and competent Physician who believes that Veterans care is # 1; an excellent communicator has exceptional organization skills and is present, visible and responsive.

Federal Retirement Plan:
VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS basic benefits (pension); and 3)Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan
The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension
In addition to FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel
Employees are vested in a federal pension after only 5 years' service
