Animal Care Technician (Instructional Support Assistant I)

California State University San Marcos seeks an Animal Care Technician for their College of Science and Mathematics/Biology Department. This position provides for the care and well-being of laboratory animals, including duties mandated by government and campus regulations, daily care and feeding of laboratory animals, and maintenance of documents and records regarding animal use.

Minimum Qualifications include:
Equivalent to six months of experience performing support services for an instructional or animal care program and involving such activities as preparing, producing, dispensing or storing materials, supplies, and equipment. OR
Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment.
Documentation of training, experience and/or certification in care and well-being of laboratory animals
At least two years of college or similar education in psychology, biology or related discipline
At least 6 months experience in care of animal collections
Must successfully meet and pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug screen
Part-time (50% time base), temporary position with benefits ending on or before February 29, 2019. The position may continue beyond February 29, 2019 based upon the availability of funds.
Salary Range: $2,466 - $4,083/month
Anticipated Hiring Range: $1,300 - $1,638/month
