Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Financial Counselor \(1\.0 FTE, Day Shift\) to work in Central Business Services at the Bank of America Building located in Seattle, WA\.
The Financial Counselor will serve as integral part of the physician's office Care Team; act as key billing contact for the physicians, PSR's, patients, insurance and central business services\.
In this position you will:
Accountable for daily operational tasks associated with charge entry; edit work queues and research rejected claims due to registration or charge entry errors
Work with clinic staff to ensure patient registration is accurate
Contact patients over the phone or in person regarding questions on billing or insurance
Perform tasks associated with charge entry
Research rejected claims due to registration or charge entry errors
Re\-submit claims to government agencies, medical service bureaus and insurance companies, ensuring that accounts are billed appropriately; audit charges for accurate procedure codes, billing data and patient information
Ensure accurate account information in all billing areas; correct and update information as necessary
Consistent use of AIDET system for excellent service
Audit system\-generated reports for payments, problems or errors; review vouchers for rejections, underpayments and denials; take appropriate follow\-up actions including re\-billing when appropriate
Review and authorize coding change requests to ensure compliant billing practices
Review miscellaneous cash receipts and direct to appropriate department of processing
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum 2 years related work experience in a health care environment
Comprehensive knowledge of reimbursement and managed care principles, medical billing and revenue cycle, general healthcare administration and finance
Demonstrated fluency in CPT\-4 and ICD\-9 coding
Ability to prioritize work assignments and pay close attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to analyze and problem solve independently
Demonstrated commitment to high quality customer service
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
6 months post\-secondary training or education
Professional coding certification
