This is a unique opportunity to manage a team of specialized transaction rating analysts in the US Public Finance department, as well as to lead an important public sector research and analysis initiative for the department.
Reporting to a Managing Director, the SCO/Manager will directly manage the Municipal Supported Products (MSP) analytical team, responsible for ratings and surveillance of financings backed by third-party credit and/or liquidity support structures. The team applies several specialized methodologies in the evaluation of transaction structures and legal documents, collaborates with other analytical teams responsible for underlying issuer credits, and publishes related credit opinions and topical market research. The SCO/Manager will be responsible for team rating and research quality, regulatory compliance, and managing analyst recruitment, development and retention. In addition, the SCO/Manager will plan and implement a new research and analysis initiative related to state and local government infrastructure condition and investment trends.
Municipal Supported Products
Strong academic background - graduate degree in public policy/administration, economics, or business strongly preferred
At least eight years of professional experience in management and/or credit analysis
Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and represent Moody's effectively at a senior level
Sound judgment - capable of developing independent opinion and defending both own views and consensus, Moody's-developed views
Excellent communication skills - demonstrated ability to clearly convey complex analytical issues in writing, together with proven public speaking skills
Demonstrated ability to manage analytic projects and innovate for efficiency
Knowledge of public sector accounting and finance
Highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
