The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for two (2) faculty positions of Counselor, Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS), De Anza College.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE: This position will report to the Division Dean for Disability Support Programs and Services and will provide academic, personal, transfer and career counseling and instruction to a diverse student population with disabilities. Assist students in clarifying academic goals and selecting a major. Provide electronic educational planning for students. Analyze documentation of disability to assess educational limitations and determine appropriate accommodations. Maintain accurate records as required by title 5, De Anza College and the DSPS Division. Serve as a resource regarding transfer, associate degree and certificate programs. Provide workshops on counseling and disability related topics. Participate in college and division assignments and other departmental responsibilities. Develop liaisons and networks with on and off campus programs and agencies. Teach Guidance or Special Education courses as part of workload. Provide disability awareness training and consultation regarding access to facilities, technology, instructional programs, college information and student services. Work with appropriate staff and faculty outside the division to meet access requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, and performing other duties consistent with the role of a DSPS Counselor. DSPS Counselors also have the opportunity to serve on district and college committees and participate in campus extra-curricular activities.

Master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in rehabilitation counseling, OR
Master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in special education, AND twenty-four (24) or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology or social work, OR
Master's degree in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, career development, or social welfare; AND either twelve (12) or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework specifically in counseling or rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities, or two (2) years of full-time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following: (A) Counseling or guidance for students with disabilities; or (B) Counseling and/or guidance in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities.
NOTE: Official Transcripts verifying qualifications will be REQUIRED prior to an offer of employment. Applicants who have international transcripts must obtain transcripts that are evaluated by an independent educational-equivalency evaluation company and obtain an English translation (if necessary). These services are to be done at the applicant's expense. Both Foothill De Anza CCD employees and external candidates must submit transcripts.
Knowledge of and the skills to provide services to multi-ethnic, international and underrepresented students.
Experience counseling adults with disabilities in an educational setting.
Experience with computers, software, and technology related to counseling.
Experience supporting deaf, hard of hearing adults and adults with autism in an educational setting
Experience in consensus building within a diverse educational environment.

HIRING RANGE: $62,772.00 - $103,094.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.
