As a summer associate at William Blair, you will have extensive opportunities to work with current analysts, associates, and senior bankers over the course of the 10-week program. Summer associates have the opportunity to join deal teams across industries and work on a combination of live transactions and pitches. In a short period of time, summer associates gain a high level of experience and exposure within the firm and are able to play an integral role in various types of deals. Because transactions are rarely staffed with more than five professionals, our summer associates have a great opportunity to take on substantial responsibility and make a meaningful contribution to a transaction's ultimate success.
Summer associates take on all functions of a full-time associate, including extensive deal execution (mergers and acquisitions, public equity offerings, and private equity placements), with increasing accountability for transaction oversight, client relationship management, and new business development. The summer program also includes internal training, community service, and social events. After completion of the program, we hope to have all of our summer associates join us as full-time associates upon graduation.

- Currently enrolled in an MBA program with an anticipated graduation date between December 2018 - June 2019
- 2-5 years of prior work experience desired
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Project and process management experience
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Understanding of accounting and finance
- Adaptability to a constantly changing environment and ability to manage through change with a high degree of emotional maturity
- Highly motivated, detail oriented, team player
- Willingness to be located in Chicago, Boston, or San Francisco
