Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities: As a key member of the AFIMAC Mexico & LATAM team, the Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organization’s Mexico operations function. Works closely with the management team, and contributes to the development of long-term strategies, policies and practices that are aligned with company philosophy, management style and organizational culture. Drives successful operations to both internal and external clients in Mexico and other South American countries.
Operations Manager will be based in Mexico with responsibility for Mexico/LATAM with frequent travel to countries our client has business in.
The Manager will maintain essential existing Mexico & LATAM business partner relationships, and will possess in depth cultural understanding. The position requires an individual who is able to communicate with senior government and global commercial group leadership, providing confidence in our client's organization while demonstrating individual industry credibility.
Coordinate and monitor executive protection activities.
Manage and monitor threat/risk assessments..
Develop and maintain security training programs.
Convert initial client contact into proposal, and service delivery
Manage and motive a large team of expatriate and local national staff
Manage corporate security metrics programs and produce reports for senior management use in directing security programs.
Drive project management. Successful mobilization or people, equipment and resources, in most cases on short notice, across Mexico and South America.
Manage performance, logistics and critical path issues to maintain service schedule
Manage project team members in forecasting, monitoring and controlling project progress
Client relationship management
Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team
Continuous operations system review, development and implementation
Consistent operations billing review of expenses, payroll, equipment
Annual budget preparation, review and compliance
Professional development and training of staff
Monitoring and measurement of an ongoing recruitment plan
Perform client site surveys to determine equipment and personnel needs
Monitor compliance of policies and procedures
Evaluate and monitor equipment needs
Willingness to travel as necessary, including internationally in order to fulfill the job responsibilities
Willingness to relocate to Mexico or South America if business demands dictate.
Must be able to work in the Miami office daily when not traveling.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Education Requirements: The minimum level of formal education that is required to perform this job satisfactorily.
• Bachelors Degree • At least 7-10 years experience relevant to security, law enforcement, military operations and/or intelligence.
Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or Experience:
• Demonstrated success managing project security in high-risk settings domestically and internationally • Ability to respond to crisis situations 24/7. • Fluent in English and Spanish • Experience in the use of firearms • Experience in Mexico and South American security practices • Strong presentation/communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, employees, direct reports and the public. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations, as well as write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. • Knowledge of project management including planning, organizing, delegating, evaluating and time management. • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing groups and major projects • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style • High comfort level working in a diverse work environment • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Must know how to initially create documents in these formats as well as edit and maintain documents. • Able to multi-task, prioritize and be adaptable to change • Organized with attention to detail • Professional in appearance, comfortable interacting with clients in person and via the phone and internet. • Able to lead, direct, train and motivate direct reports.
