Open-admission animal shelter with a NEW state-of-the-art 13,000 sq. ft facility in Gray, LA seeking a Shelter Veterinarian to perform medical treatment and services including surgery for shelter animals. Works approximately 15-30 hours per week Monday-Friday. Requires the availability for emergency phone consultations and minimal after-hour emergency visits to the shelter. Maintains the health of the shelter animals including health evaluations, vaccinations, diagnostics, treatment, dentals, spay/neuter (including pediatric) and other minor surgeries, etc. Assists with developing and maintaining medical protocols and policies/procedures as requested. Must be able to handle a heavy workload, be motivated to enhance the lives of stray and unwanted animals, and work proficiently and independently with the assistance of an experienced veterinary technician. Salary negotiable.

The Animal Shelter also houses unwanted pets, has an adoption, foster,... and rescue program, and assists the public in animal related problems. Animal Control Officers provide a variety of services including catching stray, lost, or dangerous animals. Animal Control responds to eminent situations regarding animals and works in conjunction with local law enforcement for after hour, weekend and holiday emergencies.
