The Center for Civil-Military Relations (CCMR) in the School of International Graduate Studies at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) invites applications for the position of Faculty Associate – Education as the CCMR Deputy Director for Programs. We are seeking candidates with the expertise to manage multiple programs within the security cooperation realm, and experience working with security cooperation program managers, sponsors, country teams and partner-nations in a collaborative, consultative environment. Further, we seek candidates with skills in the areas of: strategic thinking, organizational design, project curriculum development and instruction, research and analysis, project and activity coordination and synchronization, leadership development, and monitoring and evaluation.
We are seeking a colleague to join the Center for Civil-Military’s growing team dedicated to working directly with all CCMR internal programs; collaborating with partner nations, U.S. country teams, as well as all our sponsors -- including: the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, OSD Policy, Department of State, and all Combatant Commands -- to coordinate and enable partner nations in developing effective, transparent, and accountable Security Cooperation programs in support of U.S. and other regional objectives. CCMR programs (Defense Governance and Management, Global Peace Operations Initiative, International Defense Acquisition Reform Management, Combating Terrorism Fellowship Program, Maritime Security, Prevention, Relief & Recovery, and all regional Civil-Military International Mobile Education Teams) serve as a primary Defense Department tool for working with partners and allies to support development and reform of the defense sector, defense institutions and key functions, and are a core element of the Department’s broader security cooperation approach and activity portfolio.
The Deputy Director for Programs oversees CCMR Program Managers, and supports as necessary, facilitation of all CCMR programs from initial coordination with sponsors to execution within the identified country. In addition, he/she continually advises the Director on organizational and structural changes that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Center. The incumbent will serve as a principal point of contact for all sponsors and when needed will also serve as a senior faculty member/facilitator for priority engagements and participate in project design for new projects as needed. This role includes overseeing all program activities and the support of government experts and contracted subject matter experts (SMEs) in all phases of an engagement from development to completion. The Deputy Director for Programs will support the CCMR Director and Program Managers in identifying expertise, building teams, ensuring quality control, and executing appropriate training and education. He/she will also support and oversee the development of all marketing material needed in the support, promotion and development of the center to include social media.
The position is responsible for overseeing the documentation and reporting on CCMR all engagements to ensure accountability, quality control, and a record of activities. Additionally, the Deputy Director for Programs is responsible for assisting the Director and Program Managers in coordination and synchronization of programs, sponsors, country teams and partner nations to coordinate and schedule activities. The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and evaluation of all CCMR events, ensuring that key lessons learned are captured and maintained to include best and common practices, common challenges and best/appropriate practices and incorporate them into relevant projects and activities throughout the center.
Job location is at the Center for Civil-Military Relations in Monterey, California.

Requires a masters degree in a relevant functional area: international relations, political science, foreign affairs, defense and strategy, economics or related field that supports CCMR programs
Evidence of organizational and managerial skills
Experience working with United States leadership in focus areas (strategy, policy, and planning; human resource management; resource management; and logistics) as well as the leadership of foreign defense sectors (ministry, joint/general staff, Service Headquarters).
Must currently hold or be eligible for a Secret clearance
