The Center for Civil-Military Relations (CCMR) in the School of International Graduate Studies at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) invites internal faculty applications for the position of Director, Center for Civil-Military Relations. CCMR provides graduate and executive level courses, seminars, and educational research in support of U.S. government partner capacity building goals. We are seeking Naval Postgraduate School internal faculty candidates with expertise in: organizing; managing the budget and personnel of a security cooperation activity; engaging with sponsors and representatives from the DON, DOD and other federal governments; providing academic advice, service or consultation to the Naval and Defense activities on civil-military relations and defense sector capacity building; and capacity to teach within and oversee the educational and research objectives of the center.
The Director’s principal duties are to:
Lead CCMR in carrying out the educational policies of NPS and accomplishing the goals and objectives of the various sponsored programs
Coordinate with program sponsors to assure the continuing National Security and Naval relevance of all CCMR programs
Plan and supervise civil-military education and research programs to support the CCMR mission of the school
Recruit, hire, and manage a high-quality faculty and staff capable of implementing and sustaining CCMR’s academic and programmatic reputation
The Director works independently under the direction of the Dean, School of International Graduate Studies (SIGS).
Job location is in Monterey, California. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Relocation package, including recruitment/relocation incentive may be authorized.

This position is open to current faculty of the Naval Postgraduate School.
A graduate degree in international relations, political science, foreign affairs, defense and strategy, government, economics or a related field that supports the CCMR’s educational/research objectives.
Prior government experience (typically 15 years) in international security policy, capacity building, comparative political systems, or defense organization and management.
Accomplishment in education and research demonstrating expertise in the field commensurate with appointment as a senior faculty member, or already possess a senior faculty member appointment.
Evidence of aptitude for management of an educational entity.
Currently hold or be eligible for a Secret clearance.
