About the Team: William Blair's investment banking group enables corporations, financial sponsors, owner/entrepreneurs, and governments around the world to achieve their growth, liquidity, and financing objectives. Drawing on the collective intellectual capital and deep sector expertise of a global team, we bring a rigorous and innovative approach to corporate board advisory projects, mergers and acquisitions, and equity and debt financing.
Job Summary & Responsibilities: William Blair's environment is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic environment that demands quick learning, independent thinking, and taking ownership of projects. While the work is rigorous and demands a high level of commitment, the firm maintains an open, cooperative, and collegial atmosphere. This creates a unique culture in the investment banking industry where individuals can thrive and assume more responsibility early in their careers. In addition to a candidate's record of academic and professional achievement, we place a high value on an individual's ability to work effectively as part of a team. We are looking for candidates who are interested in building a long-term career with William Blair.
As a summer associate at William Blair, you will have extensive opportunities to work with current analysts, associates, and senior bankers over the course of the 10-week program. Summer associates have the opportunity to join deal teams across industries and work on a combination of live transactions and pitches. In a short period of time, summer associates gain a high level of experience and exposure within the firm and are able to play an integral role in various types of deals. Because transactions are rarely staffed with more than five professionals, our summer associates have a great opportunity to take on substantial responsibility and make a meaningful contribution to a transaction's ultimate success.
Summer associates take on all functions of a full-time associate, including extensive deal execution (mergers and acquisitions, public equity offerings, and private equity placements), with increasing accountability for transaction oversight, client relationship management, and new business development. The summer program also includes internal training, community service, and social events. After completion of the program, we hope to have all of our summer associates join us as full-time associates upon graduation.
