Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking degreed Fire Protection / Mechanical Engineers to join our growing Design Group in New England to be based in our Rocky Hill, Connecticut office. We seek individuals with 0 to 4 years’ experience in mechanical / fire protection systems evaluation, design and commissioning. Experience in fire protection of storage occupancies, industrial occupancies and military facilities is preferred.
Key Responsibilities •Assessment of fire sprinkler system hydraulic performance •Preparation of fire sprinkler system repair and replacement drawings and specifications •Preparation of schematic cost estimates •Design, commissioning and evaluation of fire alarm and detection systems •Familiarity with the design of Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning systems or plumbing systems is a plus •Up to approximately 10% travel; primarily domestic; primarily day-trips
Skills / Qualifications •Familiarity with NFPA Standards and International Fire and Building Codes •BS in Fire Protection Engineering or similar discipline plus appropriate work experience (including internships) •General knowledge of fire protection engineering principles •Knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm and notification systems
