JOB SUMMARY AFSCME 1178 MEMBERS ONLY
The Cash Application Representativefacilitates payment and/or adjustment processes regarding third party anddirect party (patient driven transactions) toward the Accounts Receivablesbalances for the facility. Accuracy,reporting, troubleshooting and performance in these processes is important tothe overall financial health of the facility.
Performscashiering functions (payment acceptance, processing or adjustment processing)for the facility, clinic or assigned area
Postsall lock box, credit card transactions, manual checks, wire transfers, refundrequests and ACHN deposits, as applicable
Postsall point of service payments which may be in the form of any of the itemslisted above
Dailypayment or adjustment posting including zero payment posting for al! paymentsreceived including payments reported and received by external vendors oraffiliated providers
Assistsin researching posting or adjustment discrepancies regarding electronic postingrejections, posting mismatches, deposits, as applicable
Analysisand resolution of payment posting errors or adjustment discrepancies regarding835 electronic posting rejections, posting mismatches, deposits, as applicable
Reconciliationof payments or adjustments to batch totals (manual, electronic) and/or dailytotals (as applicable)
Timelyresearch, identification and processing of all refund monies due to: patient,government payers and third party payers
Assistin the research and timely resolution of system transaction control errors(TCE) including accountability for root cause identification and resolutionthrough consistent documented feedback loop to respective parties
High School Diploma or GED is required
One (1) year of experience in hospitalaccount receivables activities related to cash/application is required
Medical/Hospital Billing or CollectionCertification/coursework
One (1) year of experience in hospitalaccount receivables activities related to cash/application within multi hospitalsystem
Bilingual in English/Spanish orEnglish/Polish
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of the followingsoftware programs: Siemens Application, Cerner Application, Emdeon RevenueCycle Portal, and other systems of record respectively, and exceptionalMicrosoft skill set to include Access, Excel, Work, PowerPoint and Visio,Monarch Application, or knowledge of hospital specific accounting, billing andcustomer service systems
Knowledge of specific equipment,specify:
Computer and Wyse Terminalconnectivity, processing/functionality Numeric 10-key processing of12,000+ kph (200+kpm) and keyboarding skills of 35+ wpm
Ability to performcashiering functions (payment acceptance, processing or adjustment processing)for the facility, clinic or assigned area.
Skilled at performing timelyresearch, identification and processing of all refund monies due to patient,government payers and third party payers. Assist in the research and timelyresolution of system transaction control errors including accountability forroot cause.
Commitment to supportconversion to higher percentage of electronic payment and adjustment.
Ability and willingness totrain others in the department in relation to the timely and accurate postingof payments or adjustments. Ensurepayments are posted within one business day.
